Throw an attack, loljk, I'm just gonna hold it here while I attack with something else. Holding a joint is often for stability, but it can also be for accuracy. If you relax joints as they are about to be hit, it can be said they're less likely to dismember, but more on that later. It's often used for more accurate kicks as it naturally slightly extends towards the apex of the kick, and can be used to avoid dismemberments. Relaxing a joint allows it to act purely with the momentum given to it by previous moves, and the coming turn. You can hold a joint, relax it, contract it or extend it - with variations of the latter two on some joints, but the principal remains the same. Joints can be in 4 states, as you probably know if you've played any of the game at all. Now to sum up Tk in a short few sentences, one would say a fast paced short game in which opponents must adapt using grabs and kicks to counter and defeat the opponent. Only your hands and feet can touch the floor in taekkyon, one tactic uses this to its advantage by using the floor lots to get momentum and getting low (personally i dont like it, it's risky). Self damage is often on (although many servers nowadays have it off) and so is disqualification so watch out for opponents that throw parts to dq. This tutorial will hopefully deal with the tips end of things. Now for taekkyon there is no definitive guide to winning, theres a few starting moves and a few tips and tricks. Taekkyon is hard, and most of the people who play it are great at Toribash so take every dm as a victory, even if you dont win. Firstly i'll start by saying it isnt easy, when you first start playing it you will lose. Been playing for about 5ish years now, currently an admin and in charge of the GameMasters, the group responsible for hosting events for you all to enjoy! Enough about me, an introduction to taekkyon awaits. Been playing for a year or two now and i was recently invited to teach here at unibash.
